BUBBLY'S DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Comfort Shouldn’t Mean Compromise
In Singapore, plus-size fashion has always leaned towards casual, laid-back styles. Shorts and rompers dominate the racks in local plus-size shops, and while there’s nothing wrong with them, it often feels like the default assumption is that curvy women only want comfort, not style.
But here’s the truth: with the right cut and thoughtful design, curvy women can look and feel incredible in anything. Dresses, skirts, tailored pants, jumpsuits; comfort and style can go hand in hand.
The real issue isn’t our bodies. It’s the way so many designs are made without us in mind.
Too often, we’re offered two extremes: clothes that drapes over us like a shapeless paper bag, or pieces that cling in all the wrong places and spotlight areas we’d rather balance out.
Neither option is about celebrating who we are.
Why We Design Differently
When we started Bubbly, we didn’t just think about comfort and size. We thought about shape, proportion, and line. From day one, we’ve obsessed over the details that make a piece work with the curves on your body.
Here are some of the design principles we AVOID:
- SMOCK: Causes discomfort; they are not well balanced and highlight areas that you want to conceal
- MID WAIST LINE: Draws attention to the mid section, making the body larger, rounder.
-
HIGH NECKLINES: It cuts off the body and makes the chest look larger
Perfecting the Fit
We’re relentless about getting it right. Sometimes that means sending a design back to the factory three times before we approve it. Perfecting something as “simple” as the rise in shorts took us months and countless adjustments, but when you try them on and see the difference, you’ll understand why we care so much.
Every seam, every cut, every fabric choice is as intentional as it can get.
Our goal isn’t just to make clothes that fit. It’s to make clothes that help you feel confident, seen by the brands you buy from, see yourself in a more beautiful light.
Because style shouldn’t have a size limit.
And confidence shouldn’t be compromised for comfort.
